Creation of New sub brand “Barbakanki” by the leader of cake market.
Leader on the Polish cake market, “Krakuski” has decided to reinforce its position on chocolate and spiced cakes segment. Bahlsen, whom owns the brand, has decided to create a new product more specific to enhance their on-shelves presence and visibility but also to take over new market share.
The challenge was to create a new and specific sub brand, with a strong identity, that would perfectly blend in Krakuski’s pre-existing range. “The art of excellent taste from Krakow” being its base line, the brand has to illustrate the relationship between Krakow’s story and a traditional cake considered as being a part of Krakow’s roots. The catchword “Discovering Krakow with Krakuski” will thus become a new theme to explore in the shape of the cake itself but also in the graphic design.
“Barbakanki” was the name given to this new sub brand. Barbakankis are unique cakes and each of them has the shape of famous Krakow’s buildings: Sukiennice, Marian Church, Florian Gate, Barbakan … and other historical construction. A map of Krakow is dawned on the package and indicates the most popular historical places to side seeing the capitol of Małopolska.
Cake exists in 2 flavors: spiced only and spiced and chocolate-coated.
